Appointments can be made by referral from your family physician or a doctor at a
Walk-In Clinic.
Services offered by Dr. Akinbobola include:
An IUD is an ideal method if you do not plan to become pregnant for at least one year (or longer) or you want a method that is highly effective and does not require daily or weekly attention. IUDs are also appropriate for women who do not want to or cannot use estrogen.
IUDs have relatively few side effects, and are reversible. If you decide you want to become pregnant, you can do so by having the IUD removed. IUDs do not affect your chance of becoming pregnant after the IUD is removed.
Intrauterine devices are an excellent choice for contraception in all women of child bearing age (14-55 years), whether they have been pregnant or not!
Types of IUD
Copper, Mirena and Kyleena are all suitable choices for users who cannot use estrogen containing methods including breastfeeding mothers.
**Remember that the IUD does not protect you against sexually transmitted infections.
We require 72 hours notice to cancel, reschedule or change your IUD appointment. You will not be permitted to rebook another appointment until an administrative fee has been paid. This fee is to prevent last minute cancellations and changes to our IUD schedule that could impact other patients.
